18. GAINA Against Heat

The insulating effects of GAINA Coating throughout the year makes the air in any room very comfortable, it feels smooth and dry, even during the humid summer months.

Applied area
Interior/ceiling 415 m² (4467 sq.ft)
Roof 160 m² (1722 sq.ft)
Exterior 175 m² (1884 sq.ft)
The Y couple built a resort-type cottage in Aichi prefecture Japan. Both the exterior and the interior walls and ceilings were coated with GAINA. When they first went inside the new house, the freshness of the air was the first thing they noticed.

"The air is not at all humid even without the air conditioner running, it is so comfortable." says Mr. Y. "Even the dehumidifier couldn't collect any water from the air." he states.

GAINA's moisture impermeability combined with the natural wood has created this freshness. For this couple, the effect of preventing summer heat and humidity was more than they expected. In the Y's previous home (not coated with GAINA) it generally felt hot and humid even with the air-conditioner constantly running. But now, they are comfortable in their new home, and hardly use the air-conditioner either.

"Every day is so comfortable, thanks to GAINA." exclaim the satisfied couple.

17. GAINA helps improve your sensory temperature

GAINA helps improve your sensory temperature.

Left - Before                                                                                                 Right - After

The temperature in both rooms is set at 86°F (30℃).
In the room without GAINA coating, the surface temperature of the walls and ceiling is measured at 50°F (10℃). The sensory temperature of the person is only 68°F (20℃).
The GAINA coated room on the right has a surface temperature of 86°F (30℃) on the walls and ceiling. The sensory temperature of the same person in this room is 86°F (30℃).

16. GAINA Coating Inside

Painting the interior of your structure with GAINA Coating will improve heat retention.

Left - Before                                                                                                 Right - After

The heat will escape through the walls and ceilings when they have lower temperatures. With GAINA coated on the interior, the temperature of the walls and ceiling will adapt to the air temperature, minimizing the heat's movement through the surface.

15. Paint the exterior to prevent heat from escaping

Exterior GAINA Coating prevents the heat from escaping in cold weather.

With GAINA on the exterior of a structure, the surface adapts to the surrounding temperature, creating equalibrium between the surface and the surrounding air temperature. This results in minimized heat transfer. Simply put, GAINA keeps the cold outside, and the heat inside.

14.Temperature Adaption Experiment

GAINA adapts to the surrounding temperature.

Left - Regular Paint  / Right - GAINA

Two Iron Plates
  • Plates are placed side by side.
  • Left coated with regular paint.
  • Right coated with GAINA.
  • Hot air blown at the center of the model.
This is done to ensure that each plate gets the same amount of air at the same temperature.

5 seconds passed

Surface Temperatures Change

These images show the changes as seen from a thermographic imager.
  • On the right, the GAINA plate temperature increases rapidly.
  • On the left, only a hint of change.

another 7 seconds pass

After just 12 seconds

  • The GAINA plate is nearly all the same temperature as the heated air.
  • Meanwhile, the temperature of the regular painted plate is just starting to rise.

Air Temp Switch

7 seconds of cool air
The hot air was then switched to cold air. This demonstration shows how a GAINA coated surface adapts to surrounding air temperature. After a mere 7 seconds the temperature of the GAINA plate dropped significantly.
  • The regular painted surface is still very hot.

13. Conductivity Experiment

Conductivity Experiment

Left - Regular paint / Right - GAINA
GAINA significantly reduced the heat conductivity of the iron plate.

  • Two iron plates placed on a heating element
  • Applied regular paint to the left plate
  • Right plate was coated with GAINA
  • Both iron plates heated to 112°F (45℃)

Next, an ice cube (0.465 inch² / 3 cm²) was placed in the center of each iron plate.

End Results

As soon as we started, the ice on the plate with regular paint started to melt.

20:01:48
Within minutes the ice on the left plate melted completely.

On the right side, the ice didn't melt atop the GAINA coated plate.

12. Against Cold - Insulation / Heater

  • Cold room now stays warm!
Painted area
Interior / ceiling 1884 sqft (175m²)
Exterior 1863 sqft (173m²)
"Now I know from my experience, that GAINA has an insulating effect," says the I family from the Nagano prefecture in Japan.
This family was using an intense heating system, plus oil heaters during the day. Even when they kept the oil heaters going through the night, the room temperature still dropped below freezing by morning. They needed to find a solution. They found GAINA. As a result, the I family will save significantly on their electric and kerosene bills. "After we painted GAINA, this spacious room (360 sq. ft.) now only needs one heater. And even if we turn that heater off just before bedtime, the room temperature is still above 10℃(50°F) in the morning." exclaims the I family.

  • Wintery room become warm and dry.

Interior, ceiling, Inside of  the closet
1239 sqft (115.1 m²)
The H family purchased a condominium in suburban Tokyo. This unit had cold temperatures during the winter months. Since reinforced concrete is naturally cool, the north side of the room was always cold, and the walls were constantly damp from condensation. Mr. H thought, "We need to break the wall to add insulation materials in order to increase the thermal barrier." Then he heard about GAINA. To Mr. H's relief, he learned that he only had to coat the surface of all the walls and ceiling, including inside the closets, instead of wrecking the concrete. The benefits of GAINA coating were felt immediately. The northern rooms are now warm in winter, and dry because there is no more condensation either. "In the past, everyone stayed on the south side of the living room. But now we spend more time in the comfortable north side of the room" said H family.

11. GAINA's Effect

Against Cold / Indoors
  • Even when the heat source is set on high, heat escapes when the wall and ceiling temperatures are lower than room temperature. GAINA adapts to the surrounding temperature, and minimizes heat transfer. When the interior of your structure has been coated with GAINA, the room temperature stays warmer through the winter months.
Against Heat / Outdoors
  • GAINA's unique ceramic beads reflect the sun's infrared rays, GAINA's surface adapts to the surrounding temperature, keeping heat transfer to a minimum. By coating the exterior of your structure with GAINA, the interior will stay cooler through the summer months.
Against Noise / Sound Proofing
  • GAINA's large amount of ceramic beads also effectively reflects sound and reduces vibration. This decreases sound levels. As GAINA cures/hardens the effect is maximized.

Against Odor / Air Freshener
  • GAINA has 0.0 static electric build-up. Pollutants are less likely to adhere to a surface, and ionized water molecules attract airborne particles, making it harder for them to float around.

Still more benefits delivered by GAINA in addition to the aforementioned are:

Condensation Prevention / Durability
  • This product suppresses the occurrence of condensation adding "durability" therefore extending the life of the building

Fireproofing / Safety
  • The "non-combustible" properties of GAINA increase the safety of the building and its inhabitants.
GAINA's Development
  •  In addition to typical residential and largescale commercial structures, GAINA can also be used for RVs, portable toilets, etc. We look forward to learning more innovative ways GAINA can benefit everyone as research and development continue.
GAINA data guide
  • In this competetive market there are other products for the exterior and interior that at first appear similar to GAINA. We encourage everyone to examine these different products. Each will introduce a dedicated strengthening type of coating product. These goods are generally intended for a specialized purpose. GAINA can be used for a variety of purposes.
